2020 marks TPD’s 40th Anniversary. While celebrating a milestone during times of global uncertainty and a worldwide pandemic feels unnatural, acknowledging our accomplishments and the community that has supported us is a welcome relief. We wouldn’t be here without our clients, partners, and the many other TPD’ers who have joined us on this journey. Thank you for supporting us to grow and thrive over the last four decades!
When I joined TPD in 2013, we were a different business than we are today. With great innovation and discipline from our team, we’ve undergone significant change, including a rebrand and service expansion. The growth has been exciting, and the opportunities it has led us to even more so. We have had the opportunity to impact our community in a meaningful way, from staffing emergency clean-up crews for the Calgary floods in 2013 and the Fort McMurray forest fires in 2016, to providing event staff for a leading global conference in Vancouver. Looking back, these are some of the moments that we are most proud of.
But that is not to say everything we’ve done has been a success. As I learned from TPD’s founder, Leslie Meingast, times of crisis allow you to identify, focus, and act on what is truly important. With this mindset, in 2020, we’ve been reflecting on our first forty years and focusing on how we can be even better for our next forty. It is time to push the envelope, and we are excited to share what’s coming.
Continuing to build expertise and community in our chosen industries is a top priority and one that will enable us to create greater value for our talent and clients alike. For our talent, we provide resources, development opportunities, and connections to help them accelerate their careers. For our clients, we strive to connect them with a greater selection of talent, faster. Through the use of technology and data, we gain insight into workforce supply and demand that enables us to shift from a reactive approach to a proactive talent supply strategy in support of our clients’ long term needs. We are undergoing a systems transformation to make the process of onboarding, invoicing, and payroll smoother for all involved, and have established partnerships that allow us to serve clients in more geographical regions.
Leslie founded TPD in 1980 with a mandate to be different, to put people first. As the first staffing firm to extend our comprehensive benefits program to temporary staff, we laid the foundation to achieve our mission - to help people succeed and to help organizations perform. Built on innovation and inclusion, we will continue to innovate, to work different, and make a greater impact for our clients and people. I cannot wait to see what the next 40 years hold. Let's get to work!
